This world in which we live has a tendency to thrive off of hypocrisy. We glorify individuals when they claim victory in the name of god and religion, politics or conviction, while alternately ignoring the evils of the world in the forms of poverty, subjugation, and injustice. We profess to be all loving and all forgiving when we think that it will please the god that we worship, while in the very next breath we utter terms of discrimination, elitism, and entitlement (often in the name of the same god that we pray to). Personally, in a perfect world I imagine that we would be able to see the faults amidst our own success in an attempt to understand what makes one more pleasing to our hearts, minds, and soul than the other. I personally try to hold no other man or woman higher upon the pedestal of admiration than another. Conversely I try to harbor thoughts and emotions of thanks when a person acts in a way that promotes their own moments of triumph when acted upon within the realm of universal benefit to humanity, or at least those in their own physical vicinity.
There is a tenet in which I strive to abide by. “If it harms none, do what you will”. Furthermore f “it” can be found to benefit one outside of yourself, then push harder. This includes the emotional, the physical, and the psychological actions and thoughts throughout our lives.
I challenge you all to think deeply about what it is that you wish out of every human. Then challenge yourself to think about what you wish FOR every human. Take that thought and combine it with the question “does this wish not only harm none, but does it benefit everyone?” If the answer can be answered “yes”, then I feel that you are you are thinking the way that the universe, your god, and your peers would ultimately behest of you in order to thrive.
Because of the many social stigmas and regurgitated and learned ideas of morality and conviction that we have accepted or have been taught throughout our lives whether through subscription, indoctrination, or even social pressure, this should/will be more challenging than you could ever imagine. In the end, though, I feel that it nothing can do more to liberate you than this task. If this same frame of mind can be maintained daily (and it takes a lot of effort), we will truly have found a way to advance the journey toward a destination described as heaven, nirvana, enlightenment, or any other theological or philosophical label that you should choose to put on it. At the end of the day it is about living well. We all create footprints as we walk through life. If one were to follow them, where would their path lead? We are all following footprints from those left before, and it is up to us to choose what or who to follow when navigating this mortal and physical existence. That is up to personal resonation and instinct to a degree. It is normal to reach a dead end, and then the task is upon us to forge new paths in new directions. Souls, to me, are akin to building blocks during the construction of a grand design. There are no blueprints for the finished project, but you can see the spiral as it takes shape. The footprints of the past created the visage of the current spiral. It is ever expanding. Keep going with clear eyes and loving hearts.
