Why are you going on and ON about life when you should be doing everything in your power to be IN life? Don’t be ON it, just be IN it. Life is an interactive experience. The greatest one fathomable in fact.
It’s also all in the subtleties. It’s not the big stuff that we use to benchmark and highlight our life, it’s the little things. The shadows and the whispers, the glimpses and the minutiae. The beauty in the mundane that we ignore or cast off as annoyance. There is beauty in the pinprick and the bruise with a story that tells how it got there. Not only beauty but also the meaning that is so hard to come by when we are looking everywhere for it. It’s much simpler than we think. The complexity comes when you allow your vision to soften and your lens to widen. Then you’re really digging deep.
Take it all in with every breath. The smell of good food, the scent of rain, the subtle decomposition of a forest floor. There’s a lot of truth in those things. More truth than our false idols of importance that we insist on imposing upon our lives.
Embrace the quiet. It’s endemic to our world to be in a position where the lack of noise causes discomfort. It’s never truly quiet, we are just missing the chase of the carrot at the end of the string. Perpetually addicted to being subdued into a comatose state by the world around us. I know that it’s causing us to be sick. It’s like trying to nourish the roots with salt and brine. There is music out there that we don’t create. It’s there to hear and enjoy. I feel that we are miserably failing in slowing down to do that.
Fake smiles and synthetic dopamine hits abound, but true vitality is waning. I suggest that we stop being ON this life and instead choose to be IN it. Good luck out there.
